Inspired by true events Stamp Your Feet! The Musical is set against the industrial disputes of 1972.  Although people were beginning to holiday abroad and own their own homes for the first time,  the spread of wealth did not reach the mining communities who found themselves with no option but to strike for more money.  When thousands of striking miners closed the gates at a coke depot in Saltley near Birmingham, they stopped it from being delivered to the power stations. The government had to ration electricity, resulting in homes, shops, factories and offices being plunged into darkness every night.

For millions of people, finding the candles in the dark, or playing board games with torches, became part of family life.
